In March 2018, Calpine Corporation, the largest generator of electricity from natural gas and geothermal resources in the U.S., operating 80 power plants and servicing customers in 25 states, Canada and Mexico, agreed to be acquired for $17.1 Billion by Energy Capital Partners and a consortium of investors led by Access Industries and Canada Pension Plan Investment Board.
