Access Entertainment

Launched in May 2016, Access Entertainment is a division of Len Blavatnik’s Access Industries focused on investments across the entertainment sector with a concentration in premium-quality television, films and theatre.

Access Entertainment is led by Danny Cohen, the former Director of BBC Television.

The company’s mission is to deliver the highest quality creative content and partner with gold-standard talent to build fast-growing businesses. Our philosophy is to invest for the long-term and use capital flexibly.

Early investments include: a co-financing deal with Warner Bros on films including Wonder WomanIt and Steven Spielberg’s Ready Player One; equity investment in television production company Bad Wolf led by Jane Tranter and Julie Gardner and currently in production with a landmark adaptation of His Dark Materials starring James McAvoy, Ruth Wilson and Lin-Manuel Miranda; and film slate partnership with Oscar-winning producer Tessa Ross CBE and Juliette Howell’s House Productions.

In June 2018 Access Entertainment acquired the Theatre Royal Haymarket in London’s West End: the third-oldest working theatre in London and internationally recognised as one of the world’s great historic theatres.

Access invests in live theatrical productions on Broadway and London. These have included HamiltonSchool of RockHello Dolly!CarouselGroundhog Day and Three Tall Women. In the last two years alone, productions co-financed by Access have won eight Tony Awards and ten Olivier Awards. Broadway investments are made in collaboration with Peter Thoren in the Access New York office.
