ice.net Acquires Danish Operations
AINMT Holdings AB, the owner of ice.net in Norway and Sweden, has acquired a 65% stake in the Danish telecoms company, Nordisk Mobiltelefon Denmark A/S. The Danish business will trade under the ice.net brand. The deal means that ice.net's unique mobile broadband service is now offered in all Scandinavian countries and its offering extends to 97% of the population in Scandinavia, and covers 84% of the Scandinavian landmass. "The scope of our network makes us an attractive option for those living in rural areas or who travel to work and are in need of connectivity at high speeds not only in city centres, but also outside," says ice.net CEO Per Borgklint. "The acquisition of the Danish business means that we can further strengthen our offering both to companies and individuals who travel a lot in Scandinavia. Our Scandinavian coverage, in combination with the network's technology allows us to offer mobile broadband with turbo 3G speeds in all of Scandinavia, and our customers can use ice.net services without roaming charges regardless of whether they are in Sweden, Denmark or Norway," explained Per Borg Klint. AINMT acquired the stake from EnergiMidt A/S, a Danish power supply company, which retains the remaining 35%.
